JOCS (Japan Overseas Christian Medical Cooperative Service) is a non-governmental, ecumenical organization founded in 1960 in response to the biblical injunction, "...love one another as I have loved you (John 15:12)."
Our Mission

JOCS works collaboratively with health care institutions in Asia and Africa, particularly in those areas where people are underprivileged with limited access to basic health services. We seek to promote healthcare services/facilities in rural communities that are sustainable and self-reliant. To support this mission, JOCS is committed to collaborating with our partner institutions and their staff workers on the basis of mutual respect and shared goals. Our main activity is to send medical staff (doctors, nurses and others) to serve those in greatest need in Asia and Africa.
Dr. Oyake in Christian Hospital Chandraghona, Bangladesh (2000-2003)

Dr. Iwamura in Nepal (1962-1980)

Each worker stays in his/her assigned country for at least three years so that he/she can develop a mutual and trustworthy relationship with the receiving party/people. They also bring back their unique experiences to share with our supporters back in Japan to broaden our horizons.
